2017: Vision
EH Energy was founded in May 2017 with a clear aim: to design and launch a compact, efficient, low-cost fuel cell stack that could be manufactured with unprecedented automation and scale. Built on a wholly-redesigned microstructure, our proof-of-concept stack validated the idea from day one.

2018-2020: Foundations
With our core team assembled in a lab near Lausanne, Switzerland, we designed, tested and patented our first stacks. Early prototypes delivered strong results and quickly earned recognition - a European Commission EIC Accelerator grant and the DeVigier Foundation's "Best Startup in Switzerland" award - as our first stacks reached customers.
2021: Growth
We established larger facilities in Nyon, Switzerland with dedicated hydrogen supply and semi-automated machinery. Our team grew across mechanical, electrical, embedded and process-control engineering, and we went global: founding an office in Chennai, India to develop our embedded control systems and software.
2022–2023: High Power & Automation
To meet demand for high-power applications, we launched a next-generation fuel cell stack, delivering up to 300 kW in a single stack. We expanded our Nyon site to 2,000m² of custom laboratory, production and testing space, and deployed our first containerized fuel cell solutions for stationary power.
2024: Energy Systems
We launched our EH Energy System, delivering 250 kW of stationary power, and received Approval In Principle from marine certification body DNV. Built on a single 300 kW stack and single balance of plant, the EH Energy System offers high efficiency, a small footprint and is engineered for behind-the-meter.

2026: Rapid Scale
An American-Swiss investor syndicate completed a majority buyout of EH and expanded the company to the US, opening a Houston, Texas office, significantly growing our team and rebranding as EH Energy. With new capital and leadership alongside our Founders, we’re now rapidly scaling our EH Energy Platform to serve the behind-the-meter data center and industrial markets, alongside continued growth of our other sectors.

The boundary surrounding a black hole, beyond which nothing can escape. It marks the point where the known laws of physics are pushed to their limits: an edge defined by extraordinary concentrations of energy, power and possibility.
