Alexandre Chainho

Head of Stack Research and Development

Chainho was EH Energy’s first employee with Matian and Brandon, and now leads the company’s fuel cell stack research and development activities and teams.

‍

Chainho brings more than 25 years of experience in CAD design, product development, and advanced manufacturing systems. Throughout a distinguished career, he has developed a rare and highly sought-after specialization in clean energy technologies, specifically leading the mechanical engineering and testing infrastructures for both Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) and Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) systems. At EH Energy, Chainho drives the mechanical development of the company’s fuel cell stacks and systems, managing the full design lifecycle from complex 2D/3D CAD mechanical setups and simulations for optimization, to product packaging concepts, laboratory testing, and the development of specialized assembly tools. His commitment to precision is further backed by certified expertise in Swagelok fittings and specialized laboratory infrastructure management.

‍

Before entering the PEM fuel cell sector, Chainho spent more than 11 years as a Mechanical Engineer at HTCeramix SA (Solidpower). There, he was instrumental in the creative production of tools and the development of SOFC test benches for both laboratory environments and commercial markets (100W to 6kW). This long-term tenure solidified his expertise in sourcing strategic components, auditing external suppliers, and mastering industrial workflows.

‍

Chainho’s early career includes designing specialized automotive tooling for manufacturing giants like PSA (Peugeot Citroën) using ThinkDesign, built upon a rock-solid background in conventional machining (milling, turning), TIG welding (certified by the Swiss Welding Institute), and team management.
